BowValley
Background
Eurotech had been providing Geoscience services to BowValley for some time.
Challenge
As part of the engagement we were recently asked to provide some additional services by assisting BowValley’s move to Kingdom SMT and PC based systems - analyse and reformat datasets to modern media.
To analyse and transcribe the contents of 63 tapes containing SEGY, well, Landmark and various other G&G data types. Transcription of SEGY and LAS data from Exabyte, DLT & 4mm to DVD format, plus export of workstation format data types to SEGY and ASCII and transcription to DVD.
Solution
Like many SME companies BowValley opted to use SMT Kingdom software when the launched in the UK. This meant legacy datasets created on unix systems and enterprise class tape drives were not a readily available option. This inherited data represented a significant portion of BowValley’s UK interests – Eurotech analysed the entire dataset, taking raw data from a mix of 4mm, 8mm, DLT and DAT to modern DVD format and exporting seismic, horizons, faults, check-shots, deviation, well picks, synthetics and log curves to industry standard exports that could be used.
Outcome
The project was delivered on-time and to budget.
