It employs several strategies to assure long-term data preservation. We’ve built our digital archive system on scalable service oriented architecture. Next, we designed active policies that check the authenticity of archive data to guard against the possibility of tampering or media corruption. We’ve also implemented File-level retention guards against inadvertent deletion of data from the archive before retention periods have expired. And finally we’ve created an autonomous, self-managing architecture that provides resilience to multiple faults and automatically handles adding or decommissioning hardware as it protects your vital data.

For example, in the Oil & Gas industry, AssetGrid is able to recognise unique file format such as .segy files and is able to index the contents of those files and archive the files off to less expensive tier 2 storage during the project lifecycle. Once the project is completed, the files can be automatically migrated to a third or fourth tier such as tape or into the cloud. Any information can easily be retrieved quickly and without many wasted man hours searching through hundreds of files or waiting for physical tapes to be returned from deep storage.
